While many multi-millionaires are born into privilege, Antonio Velardo’s story is one of determination, resilience, and reinvention. His success in the real estate market is the result of overcoming considerable challenges and transforming obstacles into opportunities.
Born in Naples, Italy, in 1977 to a modest family, Antonio grew up with dreams that extended beyond his surroundings. After high school, like many young people, he aspired to see the world. But rather than simply traveling as a tourist, he set his sights higher—he wanted to learn how to fly.
At just 19 years old, Antonio took a leap of faith and moved to Florida, USA, to pursue his Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) commercial pilot license. He trained at Phoenix Aviation School in Daytona Beach, earning his multi-engine instrument-rated commercial license. Later, he returned to Europe, converting his license to a Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) certification at Capua Aeroschool, while also reconnecting with his family and friends.
For several years, Antonio lived the life of a pilot, flying across continents, immersing himself in different cultures, and, as he describes it, “searching for answers.” Yet in time he realized that the pilot’s lifestyle, though exhilarating, was not the path to his true ambitions. Flying, as a profession, restricted the broader opportunities he envisioned for his future.
With newfound clarity, Antonio redirected his path. He enrolled at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom, where he graduated with top honors and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. This marked the beginning of a flourishing career in real estate.
Quite suddenly, Antonio realized that the pilot’s lifestyle wasn’t what he truly wanted. His ambitions were higher. Therefore, he concluded that, despite his love for flying, as a career, it was limiting his options and preventing him from truly “spreading his wings to fly.
Antonio began in real estate sales in Spain and Cape Verde, quickly rising to senior positions within the industry. Before long, he launched his own projects, becoming a successful real estate investor and developer in Italy and North Africa. His operations soon expanded across Europe. When the 2008 financial crisis hit, Antonio pivoted strategically to the United States, where his companies acquired distressed assets from banks and transformed them into profitable, cash-flowing investments.
A passionate lifelong learner, Antonio went on to complete a master’s degree in Mass Communication and Social Media at the University of Florida, alongside multiple courses in corporate finance, marketing, and business strategy. His intellectual curiosity has always fueled his entrepreneurial vision.
Today, as a global entrepreneur, Antonio continues to explore business opportunities worldwide. His ventures have taken him to Latin America and the Caribbean, where he is developing high-performance projects in real estate and hospitality.
Looking ahead, Antonio has embraced the future of finance and technology. He graduated from the Blockchain Strategy Program at the University of Oxford and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Digital Currency at the University of Nicosia. His focus is on bridging the worlds of real estate, finance, and blockchain innovation.
